Emma Jasinski Participates in Two Panels About Equitable Transportation

DTC’s Senior Community Designer Emma Jasinski was asked to participate in two panel discussions hosted by organizations with a specific focus on equitable transportation. We are thrilled that Emma was able to share her expertise and highlight DTC’s recent work with the Coalition for a Better Chinese American Community (CBCAC), who was a Cycle 3 Awardee of our Design Services Program.

Transport Chicago is an annual conference designed to improve transportation across the Chicago region and beyond by bringing together subject matter experts and professionals of all ages and backgrounds to discuss important topics, exchange ideas, and share knowledge. At this year’s conference, Emma was featured on a panel titled “Reconnecting Communities, Building a Vision - the Viaducts in Chinatown.” She spoke alongside Debbie Liu from the Metropolitan Planning Council and Grace Chan from the CBCAC about DTC’s work with CBCAC to improve the viaducts in Chinatown.

Emma participated in an additional webinar with the Congress for New Urbanism alongside Grace from CBCAC and Audrey Wennink from the Metropolitan Planning Council. The discussion explored ways to mitigate the equity and environmental harm caused from transportation infrastructure in the Chicago region by working closely with the community to understand their wants and needs. Emma spoke in depth about DTC’s work with CBCAC to improve viaducts in Chinatown, and specifically explained how we engaged with the community to uncover what they wanted to see in their transformation.
