DSP Cycle III Awardee: Coalition for a Better Chinese American Community

We are so excited to be working with the Coalition for a Better Chinese American Community (CBCAC) through the Design Services Program! We are working alongside the organization, the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP), and the greater community to co-create design interventions for viaducts in Chinatown along Canal St.

Due to a lack of maintenance, lighting, and a low perception of safety, community members avoid walking through the viaducts, which extend from West 63rd to West 28th Street. Our work is centered around improving these spaces to increase access and programming opportunities.

We kicked off this project with the community on October 15 by hosting an engagement session in collaboration with CMAP. Thank you to all the community members who attended. We look forward to using your feedback and insight to create healthy, safe, and vibrant viaduct spaces!
