Katherine Darnstadt Receives Visionary Award

Design Trust Chicago Co-Founder Katherine Darnstadt was recently awarded the Richard H. Driehaus Foundation Community Design Impact Award at the annual LISC Chicago Neighborhood Development Awards.

The Richard H. Driehaus Foundation Award for Architectural Excellence in Community Design was established to recognize the importance of great architecture and craftsmanship to city life. The recipients include architects and project sponsors who, through restoration or new construction, have created buildings and spaces that enhance Chicago’s neighborhoods. The goal of the award is to encourage tomorrow’s builders to honor and emulate those architects and builders who made Chicago what it is today. Its impact is to create an even more beautiful city with neighborhoods that are home to all of Chicago’s citizens.

This recognition is a true display of Katherine’s accomplishments and further illustrates her position of being a shining example for everyone across Chicago’s design and development industry. Katherine’s commitment to advancing equity in the built environment is critical to the future of Chicago.

The Chicago Neighborhood Development Awards were established in 1994 to show appreciation and acknowledge community developers and for-profit organizations behind Chicago's communities and outstanding new developments. In its 29th year, CNDA is the largest and most venerated celebration of the creativity and accomplishments that transform neighborhoods across the city.
